Students of Arkansas Voter Education (S.A.V.E.)

• a non-partisan, non-profit 501© 3 organization
• aspires to educate students about the importance of voting
• emphasizes the importance of being informed citizens before voting
• has a goal of moving Arkansas upward from 48th place in national rankings of state voter turn-out.
• furnishes voting information to teachers.
• encourages the use of Youth Leadership Initiative (Y.L.I.) materials which offer teachers free interactive lesson plans that are aligned to state civics and government content standards.
• provides opportunity to participate in mock elections

It is believed that as students get into the habit of voting while in school, they will continue the habit once they turn eighteen and are eligible to vote. Communities which have similar programs show an average of 3-5 percent increase in voter turn-out due to students talking to their parents about voting. The Secretary of State’s office agrees with our aspiration and is very supportive of our endeavor.

Teachers are the key to the success of educating students about this important civic duty. Public school teachers, private school teachers, and those who are home schooled may sign-up by clicking the link above. For more information contact Debbie Hobbs, Executive Director at dhobbs55@sbcglobal.net
